What's new in FolderMill 5.3
New features
- Enhanced OCR (Optical Character Recognition) with the newly integrated Tesseract OCR library. This neural network (LSTM) based engine significantly speeds up file processing and improves text recognition accuracy when creating searchable PDF or TXT files
- Simplified conversion of Apple HEIC (.heic, .heif) images to PDF, JPG, PNG, or TIFF. Now you can install the free-to-use ImageMagick application as alternative to previously required paid codecs from the Microsoft Store
- Rename document Action: New {*DocUID} macro allowing to assign a unique sequential number to a document within a session (macro Unique sequential file number in a session)
- Convert to Image Action: Option to preserve the original image's color space for TIFF images (Convert to Image → TIFF → Advanced settings → Keep the color space of the original image as it is (if possible))
- Hot Folder Settings: New option to enable/disable automatic unpacking of RAR, ZIP, and 7ZIP archives (Hot Folder Settings → Advanced settings → Unpack archives immediately:No). This allows, for example, for copying archives that don't need extraction
Print document Action
- New Multiple pages per sheet mode: FolderMill now supports printing several pages on a single sheet of paper. Note: the source file must be a multipage document
- New Booklet printing mode for creating brochures or saddle-stitched booklets
- Auto Portrait/Landscape option was replaced with a Page orientation dropdown menu
- Added "Simulate overprinting" feature (Print document Action → Advanced settings → File loading settings → PDF → Overprint)
- New option for borderless printing: Ignore printable area of the page option allows to ignore margins set by some printers by default and use the dimensions of the paper sheet only
Print document Action, applying print settings from filename
New parameters for applying print settings from filename:
- Added color mode settings: Grayscale, Color, and As is printer
- Added paper size settings: As in printer, Page size based, and Custom paper size (by paper size name or ID)
Text watermark Action
- Text watermark Action: New Embed font option when adding PDF annotations or text watermarks to documents
- Text watermark Action: Added Source file date and Source file time macros

- Updated components for better handling of Outlook PST files

Other improvements and fixes
- Invalid Page range for a document is no longer considered an error by default. You can enable the Consider print page range as error option if needed (Print document Action → Advanced settings → Document printing settings → Consider print page range as error:Yes)

- A 50% discount is available for customers who have the previous versions;
